I'll Make This Easy for You
Giving someone you love a good old fashioned ribbing is something that comes so natural to people that it is like breathing. It’s done at the dinner table, the bowling alley, at holidays, and in the office. It happens almost inevitably when two old friends are standing proximal to one another and have a free minute to shoot the breeze . And here’s the big secret, it’s just as easy to do at one of our Roast Events. In fact it’s even easier for an amature to get a laugh at one of our Roast Events, than it is for many comedians to do their sets to strangers.
Here is why. You are already set up for success before I even do anything to help you! You are dealing with the perfect storm. The audience is your friends/family and they are already in on the jokes. They know these people so you don’t have to waste your time setting up the laughs. Also, they are there to celebrate the honoree and have a good time. They are DYING to laugh and they just need the slightest push from you. Just step up and fire away and your bound to have success. There are a few pitfalls to the game but lucky for you, youve got a professional Roast Host on your team.
I’ve made all the mistakes, i’ve read all the books, and I’ve walked the walk. I know first hand what works and what doesn’t. All a roaster needs when he or she comes to me is to an inkling of a concept. That’s all it takes. I will take it, apply tried and true structural techniques to it, spit it back out at you in it’s fully realized form. Not only that but I will teach you where to put the pauses, where to look, what to do with your hands and how to inflect every syllable. I’ve done this successful with children as young as 5.
Lastly, everyone is always afraid of offending someone and I say you shouldn’t be. I would never let it happen at one of my events. We are NOT throwing insults at people and attacking their weakness leaving them vulnerable and hurt. Rather, we are weaving together comedic poetry using all the best roast techniques that I’ve picked up over the years in an effort to playfully expose the human in all of us. Trust me when I say this, when it’s done correctly, people WANT you to make fun of them. They used to say it was the highest honor for Don Rickles to make fun of you. It means, he thought you were something special.
